Burkle House Assocation

Burkle House Assocation

About

The Burkle House Association produces and promotes the University of Memphis Theatre and its assets. As such, the Association assists in the organization, building and running of all theatre productions.

The primary objective of the association is to promote and foster a welcoming and fair environment for all students regardless of ethnicity or sexual orientation.

The overall goals of the Association are to:

  1. Create opportunities for African American and other minority students within the Department to tell their stories on-stage, outside of the production season. (The Burkle House Association will hold auditions for a student directed production each fall. The board and the Department Chair will determine production performance dates and budget.)
  2. Produce, or have produced, new plays that reflect current events
  3. Foster community outreach with schools and local organizations
  4. Support larger arts community - Burkle believes in giving back and supports Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, whose mission is to support social services and programs of The Actors Fund for any individual who is affected by critical health issue like HIV/AIDS within the entertainment industry.

Specific semester goals for each academic year will be set and executed by the elected Officers.
